From my perspective, players were quite comfortable playing the up-scale courts at Sun City. This Any Singles Event was held from May 8th to 10th, 2017. There were 52 players vying for a win. Games were all 12 frame and played under CSA rules in this money tournament.
Personnel in charge were CSA’s Jeannie Gregory and Helen Noeltner, head scorekeeper, Dennis Iszler, head ref, George Hayner and floor crew, Steve Beatty, Bob Anderson and Al Gingher. Good work!
Lunches were available for the first two days, with David Ruch making sure they were satisfying and on time. Those with more hardy appetites really dug into the dessert: strawberry short cake!
Local contributors to prizes were the following, all are in Sun City.
Giovannies Italian Pizza, Coco’s Restaurant, Sun City Family Restaurant, Texas Roadhouse Restaurant, BJ’s Bar and Grill, I-Hop Restaurant, Provecho Grill and Merna’s Café. Thank you all for your participation.
Eleven clubs sent players to the competition, including Desert Hot Springs – Dist. 5.
All winners received a pin and cash.
These are the 8 winners who just etched their names into the archives of CSA shuffleboard –

who took home the traveling trophy (SDSE), second, Nadine Hackett (Hemet Muni),

third, Bob Rule (SDS), and fourth, Harry Gregory (El Grande Estates).

First place, Mike Garrett (El Grande Estates), second, Dean (yours truly) Grattidge (Hemet Muni), third, John Neilsen, Desert Hot Springs – District 5, and fourth, Carol Blasingame (El Grande Estates)
