For those with an appetite for challenging boards, you’ve picked the right venue!
By winning their first Oldlympics shuffleboard medals, John Hays and Ron Needham contributed to the drama of this “granddaddy of all shuffleboard events”
Held from Sept. 18-21, mostly under CSA rules, all games were 12 frames.
There were 76 sign-ups and all players seemed appreciative of the new seat cushions. Upholstery was contracted out to Empire Upholstery and seat and back pads were then installed by Jim Hutson, Hemet Muni president. Jim also stayed at these games each of the four days to help keep the event running smoothly.
Chairperson was Lynda Goggin and co-chair was Helen Noeltner. We commend these ladies for the huge effort and time they put out to schedule, complete the match-ups and supervise these games for the four days.
Head ref was George Hayner as Carole Anderson took on the collecting and verifying of all score cards.
Board crew was Jim Hutson, Jack Anderson and Bob Hackett who kept the sometimes defiant Muni boards in good playing order. A big Thank You is well deserved by these volunteers!

First place, Ron Needham, (Seven Hills), second, John Hays (El Grande), third, George Hayner (Hemet Muni), and fourth, Paul Epps ( Hemet West).
Consolation round:
First place, Ann Cantu (Villa del Monte), second, Kit Lyman (Hemet Muni), third, Roland Schneider (SDSE) and fourth, Rocco Piccinnono, the “elder statesman of (Hemet West) shuffleboard”
