For several years now, the Sun City Shuffleboard Club has hosted the annual California Shuffleboard Association’s Any Singles tournament. The venue is owned by the Sun City Civic Association Early last year they started an upgrade to the shuffleboard facility by having the middle 8 boards resurfaced and doing away with boards 1 and 10. After some rough patches and considerable time, the boards were finished and very enjoyable to play. Following that, the whole inside was painted, carpeted, and reorganized with an eating area and a viewing area. It looks brand new and is a very nice venue for the tournament.

May 2-4, 2016, a CSA Any Singles tournament was held at Sun City. There were 64 entries which made pairing up the players a more or less trouble-free operation. Liz Backus put together the line-ups and charts as Dick Massey came on board as second ATM. Sallie Hamilton ensured that all scoreboards were correct then collected all winners’ scores.
Games were 12 frame in this money tournament.
It would have been tough to pass up the lunches which were high-lighted with Chili Dogs, “Sloppy Joes”, 3 kinds of homemade salads, chips, homemade cookies, sodas, water, and strawberry shortcake with whipped cream. Bridget Gerber supervised the kitchen detail
which prepared these lunches.
Special thanks to Bill Strange who scoured the neighborhood bringing in many prizes and gift certificates. Topping off the list was The Bank of Hemet making their usual generous contribution.
