The first District 5 tournament of the 2023 – 2024 season was hosted by the TriPalm Shuffleboard Club at the TriPalm Estates and Country Club in Thousand Palms. Forty-four men and 34 women competed during the 3-day tournament under sunny skies. Since the District 5 tournaments are held during what’s known as “snowbird season” (November – March), many of the tournaments require the wearing of jackets and heavy, warm clothes. That wasn’t the case during this tournament. The weather was warm and ideal for playing on the 9 outdoor courts.

The TriPalm Shuffleboard Club is one of the 9 clubs in District 5 whose membership has increased dramatically and it was evident by the number of volunteers that showed up each day to make this tournament run smoothly. Lunches were prepared each day by Riverside County certified members of the Disaster Preparedness Club at TriPalm.

This tournament is one of 3 District 5 tournaments that qualify District 5 shufflers to compete in the annual Tournament of Champions hosted by the Desert Crest Shuffleboard Club in Desert Hot Springs March 4 – 6, 2024. Money and pins were awarded to the top 4 shufflers in the Championship & Consolation Divisions of both the Men’s & Women’s, as follows:

MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP

MEN’S CONSOLATION

WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP

WOMEN’S CONSOLATION

The next District 5 tournament will be the January 5th – 7th, 2024, Gene Eager Memorial Any Singles at Tramview, Cathedral City. This tournament is a Regional tournament for District 5 and 7 shufflers. Contact Approved Tournament Manager Shirley Eager 209-606-7054 for information.
