District 5’s 45th Tournament of Champions

District 5’s 45th Tournament of Champions has concluded with 47 men and 28 women competing for 3 days for the coveted bronze eagle trophies. The end-of-the-season tournament was hosted by the Desert Crest Shuffleboard Club in Desert Hot Springs. To be invited to this tournament, District 5 shufflers need to place In the top 4 in either the Championship or Consolation Divisions of the Men’s or Women’s Singles Tournament in December, the Gene Eager Memorial Any Singles Tournament in January, or the Any Doubles Tournament the end of January. In addition to those 3 District 5 tournaments, the CSA tournaments in District 7 count toward qualification for District 5 shufflers.

Tournament Director Linda Nielson had everything organized, along with the help from Head Referee Don Krell, Head Scorekeeper Val McDougal, ATM Shirley Eager, the board crew led by Desert Crest’s President Fred Hayes, and the kitchen crew who served delicious lunches all 3 days. Other Desert Crest shuffleboard members performed various jobs during the tournament, and everything went off without a hitch.

The 2 champions were presented with a pin specially designed by donor Dick Seburn.

The results of the 2024 45th Tournament of Champions are:
