Doubles Partners Revel in Modern Venue

Question: Is there a compelling argument for shuffleboard players to polish their array of skills? Answer will
be shown below.
Applying their talents, in all, 40 pairs of competitors brought their enthusiasm to the courts of Hemet West in an unusual time slot, from Wednesday, Sept. 9 to Friday, Sept. 11, 2015. Again, a selfless group of volunteers
contributed to the success of this event.
Doubling their efforts, Carole Anderson and Jeannie Gregory served as ATM’s and creators of the charts which had to be upgraded after each set of games. Head ref was George Hayner, as Karla Winget with Nelda Lichtwald on the left, supervised the collection of, and certified the accuracy of all the cards. All games were CSA 12- frames. The boards were maintained by Chuck Compton, Paul Epps and Robert Lichtwald.
As the last days play was Sept. 11, a moment of silence was observed before the mornings Pledge of Allegiance. Before the awards, Jim Winget remembered 9-11 for us. We thank him for that.
If you won any of the 21 grand door-prizes, you can acknowledge the efforts of Nelda Lichtwald. Local contributors were Applebee’s, Chile’s, J.C. Penneys, Red Robin Restaurant, Steer n Stein Restaurant, The Sizzler, La Fogata and the Hemet West Management. If you won any of these great prizes be sure to thank the donors when using the gift cards.
The Bank of Hemet granted the club a generous gift of money, and this, with cash collected from participants’ fees, guaranteed adequate funding of the tournament.
Two days of fine lunches were presented by way of the efforts of Glenda Epps and Jane Piccinonno. We just can’t thank all those volunteers enough!
To answer the above question, there are 16 people in front of me who embraced the concept of adding lustre to their tactics.. Thanks to Jay Davidson and his on-the-spot helper, from the Bank of Hemet, Summer Zeigler, for handing out door-prizes and the winners’ pins and cash awards.
Into the record book go these winners –
First place, l-r, Robert Brooks and Steve Piccinonno, second place, Marge Chase and Ed Little, third place, Julian and Sharron Brown, and fourth place, Fran and George Hayner. (Sort of a swan song for Fran as she is scheduled to enter into the hospital next week), and we wish her well!
First place, l-r, Bruce Kiefert, coupled with Ray Ackenhausen (celebrating his first tournament win!), Third, Jay Davidson ( the CSA president) with Marolyn Davidson, second, Mary Richmond, (also a first time tournament winner), with Carol Anderson. and fourth place, Ruth and Roland Schneider (who celebrated their 60th anniversary).
The next event is a really big one, the Oldlympics, to start on Sept. 21, and will last for 4 days. They are just about full so hurry and get your application in.
Signing off, and will see you there!
