Novices and veteran players alike, took to the courts in the Oldlympics shuffleboard tournament. The iconic Hemet Muni venue was again the host club to these games.
In all,72 contestants vied for a place in Oldlympic history from Sept. 19-22, 2016.
For this event, designated as Chairpersons, Lynda Goggin and Sharyn DiChiro devoted a lot of time and effort into creating charts, pairing up the entries and carrying the updating through for four days. We certainly commend them for that.
Head ref was George Hayner, backed up by Dennis Iszner. Karla Winget handled the scorekeeping details.
Kerry Selway kept those challenging, albeit quirky boards in good playing condition.
In the finale, these were the eight people earning their medals.
Championship round:
Gold, Joan Fernandez, Silver, Bruce Kiefert (his first Oldlympic victory in shuffleboard), Bronze, Sharyn Dichiro,
and a 4th place bronze to Ruth Schneider.
Consolation bracket:
Gold, Pat Nelsen (her first Oldlympics win), Silver, Dean Grattidge, Bronze, Jerry Hagans, and a 4th place bronze,
Jay Davidson. Congratulations. winners!
A big “Thank You” to all who contributed to the success of this annual event!
Oldlympic Games will continue on through Oct. 2nd then will culminate with the Awards Banquet at Valley-Wide-North,
on October 4h.
